Mid-century Soft Mod

Warm wood tones with vibrant accents, elevate this mid-century modern home located in Houston, Texas. The exterior embraces clean, simples lines with stacked, multi-level stone bringing a pleasing texture to the eye. Large black trimmed windows and doors allow an abundance of natural light to flow through the home.

The eye catching chandelier enhances the modern feel to this living room space, as well as the textured stone fireplace, with warm wood paneling. Light coloured flooring throughout this great room opens up the room and allows the space to feel larger.

Design Trend 2015: Navy

Navy utilized as a neutral is right on trend in the design world. It is a rich, saturated hue that makes a statement in any space and can be incorporated in many different ways, from furniture to accent walls and even cabinetry.

Thinking out of the box, try a bold navy shade on your ceiling for added drama. Navy base cabinets in your kitchen give a cottage, nautical feeling and soften the space.  Accent your room with yellow and gold shades to compliment your bold shades of navy.

Top Nursery Designs

Having a baby is one of the most joyous occasions and designing the perfect nursery can be a daunting task! Here are some beautifully designed spaces that can transition through the years of newborn to toddler without having to create a brand new look.

Think playful and whimsical and forget the matching furniture sets! This amazing rug brings texture to the floors in soft pink and neutral hues.

Use bold coloured accessories with soft neutrals. Spend your money on versatile furniture that can be used for the years to come and does not scream baby nursery!

White subtle walls with accents of warm wood tones allows this transitional nursery to sooth any newborn.

How stunning is this soft, billowing fabric lining the ceiling and draping onto the wall? Do not be afraid to create a bold feature wall. This design is so successful due to its soft neutral and unisex pallet.

Light fixtures are another easy way to add style and flair to your nursery. I love seeing the baby's name in lights!

COLOUR SPOTLIGHT

TURQUOISE

Turquoise has been on trend for interiors the past couple years and I am absolutely loving it!

BENJAMIN MOORE: BIRDS EGG, CLEAR SKIES, GOSSAMER BLUE, ICEY MOON DROPS, OCEAN AIR, PALLADIAN BLUE, SEAFOAM, SERENITY, TRANQUIL BLUE

Pair this striking blue, green shade with a neutral, such as gray or white, and you instantly have a stunning combination.

By introducing turquoise on a small scale, such as accessories, pillows or an area rug, it allows the versatility to change your accent colour in the future, inexpensively. I love the look of the turquoise cabinetry in this stunning kitchen but you have to be fully committed to the colour.

Warmth in Colour

Cool pallets such as grey, white and cool blues are very much on trend this year but we should not overlook warm colour combinations to incorporate into our interior design.

This modern kitchen design is a perfect example of adding a dose of coffee and cream with warm, stained cabinetry, creamy dining furniture pieces and oak and iron stools. The marble countertop and backsplash is used as a great way to balance the warm and cool tones throughout this kitchen.

Peach, coral and orange accents pop throughout this great room to create a stunning, warm colour combination. If you are afraid to pull the trigger and paint an entire room bright peach then choose a warm neutral, such as Benjamin Moore's Shaker Beige, and add accents of orange and coral in pillows  or a fabulous rug to achieve the same look!

Here are some of my favorite, go-to warm neutrals from Benjamin Moore!

A Dash of Colour...

A front door is meant to stand out, create an inviting entrance and also give off great curb appeal. Depending on the style of your home and the finishes, a pop of colour may be just what your front entrance needs!

This is the perfect time of year to improve your homes exterior and all it takes is a quart of paint.

Do you have a century home with red brick and off white accents? A contrast of a black front door will allow it to stand out from the coloured brick.
A helpful tip, when deciding which colour would work best with your existing exterior, is to determine if your home has a coloured brick or siding. If that is the case, then the best choice is a neutral door colour. (brown, black, navy, etc.)

If your siding or brick is more of a neutral tone then go with a bold, bright front door to add some character and pop to your home. (red, yellow, turquoise, etc.)

Here are some great options from Benjamin Moore to give your front door a complete makeover.
